Method of approach

I suggest exploring the low register first to become familiar with the instrument with all the holes closed. The exercises on page 7 will be a good starting place and some of the larger intervals written by Handel, for example, will be encountered.

Then the middle register, which requires some use of the holes, can be practised.

Then spend some time each day exploring the high register to develop a method of playing lightly and easily with minimum effort.
