Beethoven Op 126
BWO-033 - 7 Bagatelles Op126
Ludwig van Beethoven (1670-1827) orchestrated Roger Harvey
Orchestration: 2.2.2.2// 2.2.0.0.// Timps Strings
Duration: 23' To hire score and parts: info@brassworks-music.com
Notes: Beethoven wrote 3 sets of bagatelles: 7 Bagatelles, Op. 33 (1802): An early set of pieces, lightish in tone. 11 Bagatelles, Op. 119 (1820-1822): a collection of short, often intimate pieces described as Kleinigkeiten (trifles). 6 Bagatelles, Op. 126 (1824): These six pieces are considered a unified cycle rather than separate, small pieces. They are among his final piano works, showcasing intense, reflective, and often modernistic writing akin to his late string quartets. Although they do not have the breadth or depth of his longer major works they show sighns of a personality, geniality, mischeivousness and intamacy that we do not often associate with the common image of the composer. They would make an excellent concert companion piece to contrast with a symphony of the same period.
