Bach and Handel but bound for a very different path to either of these other great composers, Scarlatti is remembered almost exclusively for his 550 keyboard sonatas. Although all in a similar 2 part form they show the most amazingly inventive variety of style from the simple, melodic exercise to the virtuosic and the intensely emotional.
