8033 Rigadon

Henry Purcell

arranged for Brass Octet

by Roger Harvey

Price: £20.00

Difficulty: Medium

Programme note:
Purcell wrote a large number of pieces for the keyboard in cluding numerous suites and fantasias but also many short stand alone pieces. The Rigadon or Rigadoon is derived from the french bourée, in a lively duple metre and regular phrases. This arrangement expands the original slighly with an introduction and a varied 2nd verse.

Performance note:

Play with a light articulation and rhythmic feel. An E flat trumpet would be helpful for trumpet 1 and a flugel desirable for trumpet 3.
