This medley consists of 3 traditional British songs for the winter festivities all referring to the seasonal emblem, holly. The first is a Cornish melody known as the Sans day Carol with the opening words: 'Now the holly bears a berry as white as the milk'. It is set here as a jazz waltz. Then the perennial favourite 'The Holly and the Ivy', a slow ballad. Finally, from the Welsh folk tradition, 'Deck the Halls with Boughs of Holly' in a lively spirit.
