Programme note:
The words to Blow Away the Morning Dew exist in numerous variants of the story and the song is also known by a number of other names such as the Baffled Knight. It tells of a knight who meets a pretty maid bathing, offers to escort her home for 'a kiss and twenty thousand pounds' but is eventually jilted. An early version is found in Thomas Ravenscroft's Deuteromelia of 1609 and it is also in several versions in Child's 19th Century The English and Scottish Popular Ballads.

Performance note:
Play in a lively style with good humour and character.
