5032 – Clog Dance

L. Herold

Arranged by Roger Harvey

Difficulty: meium

Price: £20.00

Programme notes:
Herold is best known for a number of operettas and ballets mostly written for the Theatre-Italienne or the Opera-Comique in Paris. La Fille mal Garde (1828) was based on a ballet-pantomime of 40 years earlier. The music is partly arrangements of popular tunes and partly newly composed.

Performance notes:
The tuba soloist should aim to play with a lightness of style, (like a heavy animal on tiptoe) but with great character in the phrasing.
The woodblock moments can be played by a 'guest' extra or if this is not convenient omitted and replaced by the cued brass parts. If the tuba player so wishes he may do a little dance during his rest period.
