10111 Let it Snow! Let it Snow! Let it Snow!

Jule Styne/Sammy Cahn

arranged Roger Harvey

for 10-piece Brass Ensemble

Difficulty: Medium

Price £25.00

Programme notes:

Let it Snow was written in 1945 in Hollywood and although the lyrics say that "The weather outside is frightful" Styne and Cahn were experiencing a heatwave there at the time and their imagination must have been tested. It was an immediate hit and has become a perennial standard, featuring on most artists' Christmas programmes and recordings. It's universal appeal can be seen from its huge list of recordings by singers as varied as Woody Herman, Bing Crosby and Dean Martin to Kylie Minogue and Rod Stewart.

Performance notes:

This version can be played as a straight instrumental or with a vocal soloist. Optional chorus parts are also provided. It should be played in a gentle, relaxed swing style. Some solo lines are provided but these can be altered or ignored if the ensemble contains players who are comfortable with jazz improvisation. The chorus between F and J can be repeated for open solos if required.
